StoryNook is an AI-powered personalized storybook application for children ages 4–9. StoryNook was created and is operated by Zafeer Lambe ("we," "us," or "Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you use the StoryNook mobile application ("App") and website at storynook.us.

StoryNook is designed to be used by parents and legal guardians on behalf of their children. All accounts must be created by an adult (18+). Children under 13 may not create their own accounts.
By creating an account, you — the parent or guardian — provide verifiable parental consent for us to collect and process your child's information as described in this policy. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without your consent, contact us immediately at storynookusadmin@gmail.com and we will delete the account and all associated data promptly.
When you create a child profile, you provide:
Photo upload is entirely optional and requires your explicit consent within the App before anything is uploaded. If you choose to provide a photo, it is used solely to generate a description of your child's appearance for story illustration purposes. The photo is stored securely, is never shared with third parties, never used for facial recognition or advertising, and can be deleted by you at any time through the App settings.

We do not use your child's data for any purpose beyond generating and displaying their stories within the App.
We store all data securely using industry-standard practices, including encryption in transit and access controls that restrict data to authenticated account holders only. We do not collect or store any payment information.
While we implement strong security measures, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.
We make reasonable efforts to maintain the availability of your data, but recommend saving important stories for personal backup as we cannot guarantee permanent storage.
StoryNook uses third-party services to operate, including AI providers for story and illustration generation, cloud infrastructure for secure data storage, and Apple for app distribution. Each provider operates under its own privacy policy. We do not share children's personal data with these providers beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the App, and we do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics that share data for advertising purposes.
Note on AI providers: When your child's profile information is sent to our AI services to generate a story, that data is processed under the AI provider's terms. We structure our usage to minimize data retention on their end, but their own policies govern their handling of API inputs.
As the parent or legal guardian who created the account, you have the following rights under COPPA and applicable privacy law:
Request a copy of all personal information we have collected about your child.
Request correction of inaccurate information in your child's profile.
Request deletion of your child's personal information, including any uploaded photo. Delete via app settings or by emailing us.
Withdraw consent for data collection at any time by deleting your account.
Request a copy of your child's stories and profile data in a portable format.
You may refuse further data collection while retaining access to previously saved stories.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at storynookusadmin@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days after verifying your identity as the account holder.
We retain your account and child profile data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including your child's profile, appearance information, uploaded photo, and generated stories — is deleted within 30 days.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes — particularly those affecting how we handle children's data — we will notify you via email or in-app notice before changes take effect. Where required by COPPA, we will obtain fresh parental consent before implementing any such change. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
